The basic service offered by EZU is product testing and certification, which results in obtaining a certificate with the right to place the ESČ Mark on a product. The ESČ Mark represents a permanent conformance of properties of marked products with standards concerning the electrical safety. The ESČ Mark is one of the oldest symbols for a safe product in the world. It was first granted in 1926 and the importance of this Mark has practically not changed for more than 75 years of its continuous existence. The ESČ Mark is a symbol for a safe product, which is well known and requested by professional and non-professional circles.

At the same time, the ESČ Mark is registered at the European Standard Committee - CENELEC as the Czech Mark of Conformance with electrical safety standards and equals to other marks issued by well-accepted world testing laboratories.

On the basis of this Mark you will be able to get internationally valid certificates and Conformance Marks. To obtain the ESČ Mark, it is necessary to have your product tested within the range of type tests and to have your production inspected by the manufacturer. Such inspection is directed towards checking the safety of your product carried out directly under fabrication. You can acquire the ESČ Mark practically for all groups of electrotechnical products tested in our institute.

Procedure for obtaining the license for using the ESČ Mark

  1. The customer will order tests and certificate for granting the right for use the ESČ Mark.
  2. Together with an order it is suitable to send the basic information on product (technical description, electric diagrams, technical drawings, list of options of basic type and operating instructions) and product samples.
  3. The EZÚ´s personnel, after studying the provided data, will send to the customer a contract draft for carrying out tests and inspection necessary for license granting together with specification of all formalities (standards used for carrying out certification, date, price, and necessary groundwork)
  4. Following the contract signing, the persons from our institution will carry out tests in accordance with relevant standards.
  5. With regards to the fact that inspection of the manufacturer in accordance with the rules of the system is part of license proceeding, the personnel of our institution will carry out the inspection focused in particular on carrying out checks and testing regarding the safety of product, documentation of these checks and metrological order at the manufacturer. If the product is manufactured in abroad, such inspection may be carried out through foreign testing laboratories, our institution has made contract on inspection with them. This procedure leads to a reduction of inspection-related costs. It is also possible to utilize the inspection that already been carried out if such inspection is not older than one year.   6. After the successfully carried out tests and complying requirements of inspection, our institution will grant, in the form of a certificate, the right to use the ESČ Mark including the Test Certificate.
  7. In accordance with the rules of the system, the product and the manufacturer must regularly undergo check tests and subsequent inspections in manufacturing process, thus the permanent compliance of the product with the requirements of Czech standards for electrical safety is met. This tests and inspections are necessary for maintaining the license for ESČ Mark.
